Formulasi dan Uji Aktivitas Antioksidan Dari Serum Wajah Ekstrak Daun Senduduk (Melastoma malabathricum L.)
Main Article Content
Abstract
Senduduk leaves (Melastoma malabathricum L.) are herbal plants rich in phenolic and flavonoid compounds that have the potential as antioxidants for skin care. This study aims to formulate senduduk leaf extract into serum wajah preparations, evaluate physical stability, and measure its antioxidant activity. Senduduk leaf simplicia was extracted by a combination of n-hexane soxhletation and 96% ethanol maceration then formulated into serum wajah with extract concentrations of F1 1%, F2 3%, and F3 5%. Evaluation of physical stability includes organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, and freeze-thaw methods, while antioxidant activity was determined using the DPPH method. The results showed that the senduduk leaf extract serum wajah had homogeneous characteristics, physiological pH F1 (5.45), F2 (5.44), F3 (5.24) and viscosity F1 263 cP, F2 322 cP, F3 450 cP. Physical stability testing using the freeze-thaw method showed that the formula did not experience phase separation or color change, but viscosity did change during storage. The extract's antioxidant activity was classified as very strong with an lC50 value of 19.34 ppm, while the serum wajah had weak antioxidant activity with lC50 values for F1 of 1,928 ppm, F2 of 1,023 ppm, and F3 of 412 ppm, likely due to dilution and interaction with the serum base. In conclusion, senduduk leaf extract can be formulated into a serum wajah; the formula is physically unstable, and the serum wajah preparation containing senduduk leaf extract has weak antioxidant activity.
